Quiet time and travel play ideas for little ones
4 min read
In short
- A small, familiar set of toys can make a new place feel more like home.
- Soft toys are quieter than hard ones — handy for flats, cafés and travel.
- Rotate toys so they feel new again.
Calm play at home
Quiet time does not have to mean nap time. A soft set laid out on a playmat gives a child something gentle to focus on after a busy morning, or while a sibling sleeps.
Visiting family and travelling
Taking a few familiar toys to the grandparents’ house or on holiday can help a child settle. Choose items that fold or pack flat, and keep a small bag so nothing gets left behind.
Toy rotation
Putting a toy away for a week and bringing it back often makes it exciting again. Try offering just two or three animals at a time and swapping them later.
